The entire row of green tiles at Sinchao Taipei is very eye-catching. Its exterior resembles a trendy café, offering creative Taiwanese cuisine with new flavors. It opened in 2019 and is conveniently located on the 2nd floor of Taipei’s Xinyi Breeze Center.
The transparent glass on the window displays the English name “Sinchao Délicate Cuisine of Taiwan,” indicating it offers exquisite Taiwanese cuisine.
The business card is printed on high-quality paper. The logo on the glass is replicated on the card, making it delicate enough to be used as a bookmark.
Sinchao is the sister store of Yonshin Tea & Cake Selection Bar in Tainan. Upon entering the restaurant, the first thing that catches the eye is this bar, but while Yongxin mainly sells tea, Sinchao sells alcohol.
The entire floor is covered with grid-patterned tiles, resembling the skin of a python at first glance. It’s made using mosaic tiles.
The seating area includes sofas, wooden chairs, square tables, and cozy round tables.
Today, the four of us chose to dine in the area with the pink rose sofas, which had a soft and soothing color tone. The private booth-style partitions added a sense of independence and privacy to our dining experience.
The seating area faced the restaurant’s kitchen, allowing us to glance at the preparation of the chefs as they diligently prepared each dish.

The Beef Short Rib Fried Rice.
This place offers a unique blend of Taiwanese and Shanghainese flavors. You should definitely try their shredded beef with pickled cabbage.
The appetizer arrives first, and it’s as refreshing as it looks. The crispy fried fish, coated in fried squid, is drizzled with a special sauce that’s both appetizing and perfect for pairing with drinks. The meat is sweet and tender, with a firm texture.
We always wanted to try Taiwan’s unique chicken essence. Served in a clay pot to keep it warm, every sip is aromatic and delicious.
The fried rice here is a hit. It’s cooked to perfection, with each ingredient distinct and not sticking together—just rice, egg, ham, and shredded meat, all perfectly stir-fried.
We decided to add on the Basil Stir-fried Clams at the last minute, and it was a great choice. The basil and broth complemented the rice perfectly.
This sour cabbage stir-fried beef is a classic dish that I’ve tried. The perfect balance of sweetness, sourness, and saltiness makes it irresistible.
If you’re into fermented bean curd, you might like this dish too. It’s not too strong on the bean curd flavor but has a nice hint of Shaoxing wine, giving it a fresh taste. The freshwater prawns are juicy, and even the soup from the prawn heads is tasty. You can enjoy the whole prawn without peeling it, getting all the flavors in one bite.
Caramel pudding here is different from the French style; the top is not crispy, similar to traditional pudding eaten in Taiwan in the old days. It’s soft and melts in your mouth from top to bottom, offering a sweet and delightful taste!
The creamy latte with its rich coffee flavor is the perfect match for the sweet caramel pudding.
