Where do you usually have lunch during weekdays? Luckily, my client took me for lunch and we went to the Okura Prestige Taipei.
Directly from the hotel lobby, take the elevator to the fifth floor, where you’ll find “Yamazato Japanese Fine Dining.” This section is divided into areas for sushi, tempura, and teppanyaki. The waiter guided us to the traditional Japanese cuisine area. Notably, “Yamazato” was awarded a Michelin star in 2019.
In a serene ambiance adorned with wooden-toned tables and chairs of varying depths, the Japanese fine dining establishment “Yamazato” on the fifth floor of the hotel exudes an authentic sense of Japanese aesthetics. After a half-day of work, arriving at such a space during lunchtime feels truly delightful!
The overall ambiance exudes a sense of refined simplicity and understated elegance. It cleverly incorporates high-end art pieces to enrich the space. The decor resonates with Japanese artistic sensibilities, immersing visitors in an authentic Japanese experience.
The seating in the Japanese cuisine area is sparse, with generously spaced tables. Our patrons opted for seats near the windows, where the gentle sunlight spills into the room, casting a warm and inviting glow.
“Yamazato,” is an authentic Japanese restaurant that has upheld its traditional legacy for 50 years, tracing its roots back to the renowned Okura Hotel in Tokyo. In Taipei, it has garnered a devoted following and is deeply cherished by patrons.
My order of the Beef Sukiyaki set arrived at the table, brimming with vegetables, tofu, and mushrooms alongside the succulent beef.
The set menu comprises appetizers, grilled fish cheeks, miso soup, and egg custard.
The tableware at “Yamazato” is meticulously chosen, with plates and cups crafted from Nara-yaki pottery, sourced from the renowned Kyoto Ceramic Industry.
As an appetizer, we were served a refreshing tofu dish topped with crab meat and a dollop of specially crafted light soy sauce infused with mustard.
Gazing at this plate of ‘Summer Harmony’ alongside three refreshing pickles is visually delightful.
A bowl of steamed egg enriched with the essence of abundant seafood and fish collagen.
Before the meal, try this bowl of hot soup seasoned with Hokkaido red miso.
The Sukiyaki hot pot is finally here! The ingredients are wonderfully abundant! In addition to tender beef, there’s also konjac and various mushrooms. The broth, flavored with scallions, is exceptionally delicious—even on scorching days, not a drop is left.
Seize the opportunity during your business trip to savor this gourmet Wagyu beef hot pot—it’s a small delight amidst work. Lunch sets are often especially cost-effective. Enjoy a tranquil and spacious dining experience on weekdays.
