For me, happiness is having vacation time and catching an early morning flight with college friends, heading to this pristine island with its azure coral reefs. It’s a rare luxury in the simplicity of everyday life.
A group of us arrived at Naha Airport in Okinawa in the afternoon. Their first task upon landing was to arrange transportation for the next few days, and of course, that meant renting a car!
They’ve already planned to go eat at “Happy Pancake” as their first agenda, which means they have to head to the nearby famous attraction, Sesoko Island. It’s only 15 minutes away from Naha Airport, so driving is undoubtedly the most convenient way to get there!
We first rented a Tabirai car, a Sienta 1500cc (7-seater) for 5 days and 4 nights at 33,000 yen, including comprehensive insurance. It’s such a great deal! After picking up the car, we immediately hit the road.
When we saw the crystal-clear sea and the azure sky, all the stress just melted away!
Okinawa’s Sesoko Island: Umikaji Terrace
This place is one of Okinawa’s hotspots for chilling out. Walking around Sesoko Island is so relaxing! And there are tons of cool shops to check out too.
It’s also the perfect spot for ocean views. Enjoying great food and shopping with the ocean as your backdrop makes time fly by without us even noticing.
We can also get a close-up view of airplanes taking off and landing.
For friends who are particularly fond of desserts, when searching for afternoon tea in Okinawa, you’re likely to come across many recommendations for this Happy Pancake House.
From outside the window, we could see the staff working diligently, each with their own tasks, busy making delicious pancakes.
In the past year or two, Japan has been swept up in a wave of Japanese-style pancakes, with Tokyo and Osaka leading the charge. “幸せのパンケーキ” was one of the first places you could enjoy them, starting right in the capital city, Tokyo!
In Okinawa now, not just available, but in the best spot with a great view!
“幸せのパンケーキ” means “Happy Pancake” with a variety of sweet and savory pancakes available.
Besides the delicious plain pancakes, the colorful fruit toppings are equally impressive, making the dessert both tasty and delightful.
The Happy Pancake prides itself on not using baking powder, instead opting for their unique natural baking method, which creates these legendary fluffy pancakes.
They use Hokkaido milk to whip up smooth and creamy whipped cream, along with Japanese domestically produced wheat flour and carefully selected fresh eggs.
They also incorporate pure Manuka honey from New Zealand. The freshly baked pancakes are so aromatic!
Definitely! Banana pancakes are a classic combo that never disappoints!
Sure thing! We can grab a coffee or tea with our meal either as part of the set menu or separately. They don’t have a minimum spending rule per person, but it’s polite to order something for yourself.
With no additives in the ingredients, every bite allows us to taste the natural flavors of the ingredients!
And for an extra treat, indulge in the pancake with a generous scoop of smooth vanilla ice cream on top!
Until we took the first bite of the pancake, the intense happiness lingered with us like the gentle breeze by the shores of Okinawa.
And so, we enjoyed our sweet treats amidst the stunning seascape, sharing stories and secrets until the sun dipped below the horizon.
