Today, my family and I visited Mountain Cafe again. It’s located in Fuxing Township, Taoyuan, on the way to Jiaobanshan. We’re big fans of Mountain Cafe because my husband originally got to know the owner through work.
Now, it’s become our little oasis—a place we can reach by car in just 20 minutes. The variety of flowers here is truly eye-opening, and they change with the seasons. The winding mountain slopes and the final stretch to the coffee shop.
Unlike other cafes that prioritize convenience, the uphill climb gives me a sense of “the desire to explore a thousand miles.”
As I think about it, I plan to order a plate of spaghetti, some plain butter pancakes, and a pot of fruit tea—all while surrounded by the picturesque European countryside. It’s amazing how well this matches the travel scenes I’ve always dreamed of! 🌿
Plump succulent plants are like the “pets” of the plant world. They silently accompany us without expecting anything in return, bringing healing and cuteness. When you arrange multiple small plants together, they create a layered effect that not only decorates your home but also lifts your spirits.
In Taiwan, succulent plants thrive well. Even though they usually grow in deserts or arid regions and have reduced leaves, their plump stems can store a lot of water. These hardy plants can flourish in Taiwan’s subtropical climate. If you choose succulents with eye-catching appearances, they’ll add vibrancy and life to your garden.
This place is a paradise for succulent plant fans. The various shapes and sizes of succulents make it feel like stepping into a trendy little shop called the “Green Meat Boutique.” Each succulent competes to be the most unique and eye-catching—there’s so much to see!
I also love succulent plants! Their fleshy leaves and unique shapes are truly captivating. In Taiwan, succulents generally thrive well, but there are still some important considerations.
Arriving at Mountain Cafe requires climbing a hill. You can think of it as a mini hike to exercise your body. For those not used to physical activity, climbing this slope can indeed leave you a bit breathless… 😅
This uphill path isn’t dull at all. It’s adorned with blooming flowers, European-style figurines, and carefully crafted plant decorations by the owner.
This place is also suitable for bringing your beloved furry friends. Just remember to leash them so they don’t run off suddenly!
Mountain Cafe has four floors, and the signs in the park clearly show what’s around and what facilities are available. It’s like you can plan a very interesting trip here!
This place is a natural scenic trail where you can enjoy different flowers throughout the seasons. In spring, there are azaleas and wisteria; in summer, water lilies; in autumn, goldenrod; and in winter, Japanese umbrella pines. It’s also great for bringing kids or pets to enjoy the fresh air. The owner also has a large private orange orchard near Lala Mountain, where you can even see cherry blossoms in spring. It’s a hidden gem for us to visit during spring! 🌸
Another reason we often come to this cafe for coffee is that my dad enjoys admiring and photographing flowers. We admire how the owner takes care of the place, decorating the entire park with different flowers according to the changing seasons.
ThisCafe on the high mountain has a unique personality that attracts people to explore. We often visit during spring and summer. The current trend of “Instagrammable cafes” wasn’t the owner’s original intention. The name “Maruyama” sounds like “playing in the mountains,” and as the saying goes, “those who are kind-hearted enjoy the mountains, and those who are wise enjoy the water.” To truly appreciate the mountain’s joy, you must experience it step by step—whether it’s the air, flowers, ponds, or chance encounters with insects and snakes during a leisurely walk.
I remember that last time we came to the cafe, we found a little snake outside. My son was very excited because it was the first time he had ever seen a real“snake.”
Mountain Cafe’s owner aims to infuse the concept of their longed-for mountain lifestyle into this coffee shop. The cafe features various plants and European doll decorations, creating a unique blend of greenery and style distinct from the bustling city. As you step inside, you’ll be greeted by smiling dolls at the order counter, staircase, bookshelves, and even the washroom, instantly lifting your spirits!
Using chalk, they handwrite the menu for beverages, complemented by elegant English calligraphy fonts against a brick wall. This contrasts harmoniously with the wooden board in front.
After being seated, the service staff will present the menu for ordering. Let’s take a look at the seating area next to the bar, which features square sofa tables suitable for 4-6 people. The polished distinctive brick wall is adorned with decorations made from tree branches.
Or you can also take the stairs to the second floor. It’s divided into a dedicated indoor dining area, perfect for guests who prefer privacy and want to sit indoors for conversations, meetings, or playing board games. Additionally, there are high bar tables and chairs near the windows, allowing you to enjoy the expansive mountain views while dining.
Today, we had a group of eight people who chose to sit in the outdoor terrace area on the third floor. The seating in this area consists of round tables, each suitable for 3 to 4 people. We reserved two tables.
The view is allowing us to directly absorb the refreshing scents of the mountain air and the essence of the sun and moon. The seats on the platform were quickly filled. The accompanying image was taken from outside, and the landscape is truly remarkable.
This delightful dish combines earthy mushrooms, crispy bacon, and a rich red sauce, all tossed up and cooked with Italian pasta.
Paired with fried chicken and freshly brewed fruit tea, it’s the perfect afternoon tea.
My husband is no doubt a moderate coffee enthusiast. Occasionally, he brews black coffee at home. He particularly enjoys a hot latte after lunch.
The boss loves living in the mountains. He bought a land where they grow crops and raise chickens. On our way home, we stopped by the market to buy some fresh eggs, seven-leaf tea, preserved plums, sweet peppers, and plants. Some of the ingredients are cultivated by the boss’s daughter.
